This week is an afternoon tea feast for me! Here is two latest afternoon tea places where I wished to try for so so long!
1) Gradini Restorante Italiano HKD 288 + 10% for 2pax
I only noticed this restaurant recently situated inside a rather new hotel along Stanley Street of Central. It is a rather cosy environment where one could chat for long hours. This is like a hidden gem in the CBD, I could say.
The afternoon tea area includes a bar area plus 4-5 bench tables. There is another quarter at the back for normal a la carte meals. I was expecting their afternoon tea to be available on the weekends but somehow it is only for Mon to Friday from 3pm.
One of the difference is they had these HK nibbles - egg pan waffles alongiside with the scones. It does taste differently to the street food but it is good with a bit of sugar! For the savoury bites, I luv the curry puffs, they were made just right! The only discount I would give would be the Earl Grey Tea which I ordered, I always had this tea for afternoon tea, but hmmmm I would expect much better tea. The tone of the tea is pretty mild taste.
For the price and atmosphere, I would certainly go again as a hideout when we were too tired after shopping around the city or for any business meetings! It is my lucky chance to find a Friday to be there, please remember walk ins only!
2) Dalloyau Le Cafe (HKD598 for 2pax)
This was a lucky finding while searching for an afternoon tea for lazy chats on a Saturday. One interesting find is, there are two set of afternoon tea available, one is more premium with extra savoury bites plus an extra drink for HKD 368 per person. For me a little sweetness is fine with me so I picked the Chocolate Afternoon Tea.
I tried to book a week ahead and seems the reservations were full so I had to walk in. I waited from 2:45pm in line for the 3pm start. There were no indoor tables so we had to choose sitting outside with a bit of view and wind - luckily not to hot.
I have to say with a relaxed mood of the weekend, plus the view plus chocolates and food - it is the greatest divine you may find! The savoury bites are great and filling. Opera is the best in town. I had never knew their macarones taste so well - chocolates along with truffles tones.
Unfortunately I was too relaxed to take any further photos since their menus goes on an ipad. Earl Grey tea are good. As much as the sitting goes, the sofa seems way too high in contrast to the afternoon tea tables - but still good to relaxed for a few hours........I do provide links on Open Rice below for your further reference.
I would definitely come back to get more of their macarons next time!
