I use to be in a dilema between Shu Uemura and Shiseido Maquillage eyelash curlers. I do admit I got the Shu Uemura one many years ago, obviously because it was the well known eyelash curler to go for. Back in those years, blog post was not a common thing to go for. I have kept this in my make up bag but it was not well used.
I am those with Asian eyelids and may need special care when using curlers. It is only up to now I master the best trick to keep them up and curled after watching From Head to Toe youtube chanel. For Asian eyes, well maybe me only me, I do not have a double eyelid so it is often a bit tricky. Another problem everytime I use mascaras, is it often left a black smudge within 3-4 hours even I use well known brands with waterproof qualities - and therefore I had not been using the curlers or the mascara much - until now!
Maybe it is the reason that I got too many palettes these few months after starting this blog, I began testing out these goodies again. I got the Sheseido eyelash curler, last year, during a tri p to Osaka, Japan. As we all know, Japan got the best drugstore with reasonable priced beauty products - I can go crazy there! I believe I picked these eyelash curler plus their foundation brush at the same time. The eyelash curler was not as pricy as the Shu Uemura one - as I recall. With that price, I thought it is worth a try.
These two curlers remains in harmony in my make up bag for a long time, until recently I just decided to give the Shiseido one a try, again. I did follow the tips from blogger From Head to Toe, to position the curler at the base of the lashes as much as possible, the best angle to go for is when your eyes are looking down and slightly pull the lid upwards with the other hand. As you clip the lashes first time, holding it for around 5 seconds, and slightly move outwards, try to tilt the curler upwards as you move along the lash - it helps the lashes to curl up as much as possible. I use to add only a layer of mascara, and it helps to stay around for the day, with not much smudging.
Besides the better curler handling, I did use an eyebase from Nars - it is the best thing ever, both at the lids and at the bottom of the eyes, I did also add an extra layer of loose powder at the bottom of the eyes - so I do not know which did the trick but here is my success story!
I am not sure if anyone suffer the same problem as me, but I hope this blog helps! My findings are the Sheseido one, are able to lift up my lashes at a better angle than Shu Uemura - I am not sure if its because Shiseido is more fitted for Asian eyelids but I do prefer using the Shiseido one. If anyone of you are ever going to Japan, do a little search at the local drugstore, you may find some treasures!
On a side note, I still luv my Espoir Ultimate Feather Volume Mascara, which I am not so sure how I could find the replacement but will find out.
Going forward, I hope I could maintain 3 blog piece each week, one aim at health, the other two aim at beauty. There would be at least one beauty blog piece. The third piece may be something random going on in my life. Feel free to message me on anything you would like to know and I would add it in my blog piece plus I would be starting to give free gifts to the best suggestion from now. So message me and I would random pick a gift for those with the best feedback each week. I would also manage to send a message out on the official announcement.
